The Interactive Approach

This project required a fair amount of logic and programming in order to function to the client’s full desire. There is a section of the module which asks the user a handful of questions and based upon how they respond, the module will then continue with details which are important to their needs. This element is important because it really turns this into a dynamic experience which is somewhat customized to each users individual perspective on the topic. This module was designed to be used as an incentive-based effort allowing the user the ability to receive a reward for viewing the module. Based upon this requirement we integrated a database element which stores pertinent information regarding the reward request as well as notification to the reward processing entities. This facet of the project also allows for real time administrative reporting and data extraction which can be used for statistical evaluation from those responsible for the campaign.

The Video Approach

For the video component of the Toothinghammer website we shot our footage on-location just outside Minneapolis at Murphy’s Landing, a living history museum/park located in Shakopee, Minnesota. We recorded in high definition (720p 24 frames per second) using a Panasonic HVX200 to give us an affordable way to achieve a film-like quality for this piece. The production took one day, minus the puppet show which was recorded separately back at our studio. For post-production, the footage was edited using Adobe Premiere Pro. Color correction and other effects were done in Adobe After Effects. For color correction we tested out many treatments for the “look” of the final video, settling on a somewhat washed out, vaguely sepia tone look. This look we decided lent itself to the overall style we were trying to achieve - something that looks old, yet is also set in the here and now.

DreamWorld Studios worked with Patterson Dental on a marketing campaign for Sirona's CEREC tooth restoration machine. Users are walked through a funny "mock" presentation lead by E.H Toothinghammer. Registered users are able to take a video led survey and request a reward at the end of their experience.
